The Chinese American Music Ensemble (CAME), founded in 1994, is an adult community choir established in New Jersey by a group of Chinese music enthusiasts passionate about choral art. For more than thirty years, CAME has remained committed to connecting communities through choral music, preserving cultural heritage, and actively participating in the Chinese American community and multicultural exchange in the United States.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director and professional conductor Dr. Shuang Guo, CAME continuously elevates its artistic standards and performance quality, broadens members’ musical horizons, and has gradually developed into one of the most recognized and influential Chinese choirs in the eastern United States.
Dr. Guo graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, studying under renowned conductor Ms. Xiaoying Zheng. She later earned a master’s degree from the Berlin University of the Arts and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Missouri. With extensive experience in choral conducting and music education, she has long been dedicated to advancing CAME’s artistic excellence and guiding the ensemble toward higher levels of professionalism.
CAME places strong emphasis on vocal fundamentals and choral technique. Vocal coach Joyce Chao leads weekly vocal training sessions focusing on breath control, vocal production, harmony, and resonance, helping members continually improve their singing technique and overall sound. During the summer, small-group vocal classes are also offered to provide additional professional training.
In community service, CAME performs annually at senior centers, participates in local Lunar New Year celebrations, church events, and community concerts—sharing warmth through song and fostering cultural exchange through music.
CAME also actively steps onto the international stage. In 2024, the ensemble traveled to Taiwan for musical exchange performances; in 2026, CAME competed in the Lucca International Choral Competition in Italy, earning a Silver Award. Lucca, located in Tuscany, is a renowned musical city and the birthplace of famed composer Giacomo Puccini. Performing in a city with such a rich musical heritage marks an important chapter in CAME’s artistic development and international engagement.
CAME remains devoted to its motto: “Making friends through singing, expressing emotions through music.” While preserving Chinese musical traditions, the ensemble embraces cultural diversity. We look forward to connecting with more friends through beautiful choral music, sharing the charm of the art form, and letting the world hear the voices of the Chinese American community.
中美合唱團（Chinese American Music Ensemble，簡稱 CAME）成立於 1994 年，是由一群熱愛合唱藝術的華人音樂愛好者在新澤西州共同發起成立的成人社區合唱團。三十多年來，CAME 始終致力於透過合唱藝術連結社區、傳承文化，並積極參與美國華人社區及多元文化交流。
在藝術總監、專業指揮家 郭爽博 士 的帶領下，中美合唱團不斷提升音樂藝術水準與演出品質，拓展團員的音樂視野，逐步發展成為美國東部地區具有高度知名度與影響力的華人合唱團之一。
郭爽博士畢業於北京中央音樂學院，師從著名指揮家 鄭小瑛 女士，後取得柏林藝術大學碩士學位及密蘇里大學音樂藝術博士學位。她擁有豐富的合唱指揮與音樂教育經驗，長期致力於提升 中美合唱團的藝術水準，推動合唱團邁向更高的專業層次。
中美合唱團同時重視團員聲樂基礎與合唱技巧的培養。聲樂指導 趙家璧 負責每週聲樂訓練，透過氣息控制、發聲、和聲與共鳴等課程，協助團員持續提升演唱技巧與整體聲音表現；暑期亦開設聲樂小班，為團員提供更進一步的專業訓練。
在社區服務方面，中美合唱團每年走進老人中心進行公益演出，並積極參與當地農曆新年慶祝活動、教會及社區音樂會，以歌聲傳遞溫暖，以音樂促進文化交流。
中美合唱團也積極走向國際舞台。2024 年赴臺灣進行音樂交流演出；2026 年參加 意大利盧卡 國際合唱比賽並榮獲 銀獎。盧卡（Lucca）是意大利托斯卡納著名的音樂之城，也是著名作曲家 賈科莫．普契尼（Giacomo Puccini） 的故鄉。能夠在這座擁有深厚音樂傳統的城市參加國際合唱比賽，是 中美合唱團藝術成長與國際交流歷程中的重要篇章。
中美合唱團始終堅持 「以歌會友、以樂傳情」，在傳承中華音樂文化的同時擁抱多元文化。我們期待以美好的歌聲連結更多朋友，讓更多人感受合唱藝術的魅力，也讓世界聽見來自華人社區的歌聲。
